Scott is a 1992 graduate of Mississippi College, where he received a Bachelor of Science in Business Administration degree with a major in Accounting.  He joined Tann, Brown & Russ Co., PLLC as a staff accountant in 1992 and became a partner in the firm in 2008.

As an audit partner, Scott's clients have included, among others, insurance companies, construction contractors, manufacturers, not-for-profit organizations and state and local governmental entities and political subdivisions.  Additionally, he provides a wide range of tax and consulting services to individuals, closely-held businesses, non-profits and governmental entities.

Scott is a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants, the Mississippi Society of Certified Public Accountants, the Association of Government Accountants, and the Government Finance Officers Association.  He also holds the Certified Government Financial Manager (CGFM) credential, which is awarded to financial professionals who demonstrate significant expertise and experience in governmental finance and accounting.

Scott resides with his wife, Cheri, and their two daughters in Clinton, Mississippi, where he is active in a variety of community organizations.  He has served as president, treasurer and board member for his neighborhood homeowners association and is an active member of his church, having served as president and in various other positions on the church council and board of elders.
